چکیده

Limited bandwidth, multipath-induced signal fading, and motion-induced Doppler effect makes underwater acoustic (UWA) communication still an ongoing challenge. Among numerous interesting researches on UWA communication, the application of orthogonal signal division multiplexing (OSDM) has been proposed by authors. In our previous work, it was found that the UWA communication with OSDM achieves high-quality data transmission in heavy multipath channels compared to the exiting UWA communication with DFE. However, it was also found that the UWA communication with OSDM is more sensitive to the Doppler shift compared to the existing UWA communication . To achieve communication under Doppler shift environment, Doppler shift compensation, proposed by Sandell, was considered and evaluated in simulation . The obtained results suggest that OSDM can achieve communication under Doppler shift environment by applying the compensation . In this paper, we experimentally evaluated the UWA communication with OSDM applying Doppler shift compensation to confirm the simulation results.

Space-frequency coded orthogonal signal-division multiplexing over underwater acoustic channels.

Orthogonal signal-division multiplexing (OSDM) is a newly emerged modulation scheme which provides a generalized framework unifying conventional orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) and single-carrier frequency domain equalization. In this letter, a space-frequency block coding (SFBC) scheme based on OSDM is proposed for time-varying underwater acoustic channels. The receiver proce...

Doppler Compensated Front – End Receiver Design for Underwater Acoustic Channels Using Mimo-Ofdm

Over the past three decades underwater acoustic communications has grown in a spectaculous manner. Continued research over the years has resulted in improved performance and robustness as compared to the initial single-carrier communication systems. Multicarrier modulation in the form of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has emerged as a promising modulation scheme for underwate...

Joint Interference Mitigation with Channel Estimated in Underwater Acoustic System

Orthogonal frequency-division-multiplexing (OFDM) has been actively pursued in underwater acoustic communications. However, OFDM is extremely sensitive to carrier frequency offset (CFO) which cause significant problems. The utilization and performance of traditional channel estimation are poor. Although underwater acoustic communication was recently the focus of research, literatures on joint i...

Experimental Evaluation of Zp-Ofdm Scheme in Time Varying Underwater Multipath Channel

An experimental analysis to evaluate the practical suitability of the Underwater Acoustic (UWA) communication scheme is the major aim of this study. Oceanic channel imposes two major challenges (i.e., multipath propagation and Doppler effects) for underwater acoustic communication. Being fastest possible underwater information exchanger, OFDM is considered as the most viable option for mitigati...

Multicarrier Underwater Acoustic Communications over Fast-Varying Channels

Multicarrier modulation in the form of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has prevailed in recent broadband wireless radio applications due to the low complexity of receivers required to deal with highly dispersive channels. This fact motivates the use of OFDM in underwater environments. However, underwater acoustic (UWA) channels are far more challenging than their radio counter...
